AItmad-ud-daulah's TombBuilt between 1622 and 1628 by Empress Nur
Jahan for her father, boasts of marble trellis work and inlaid
with-precious stones, this mausoleum on the opposite bank of the
Yamuna from the Taj, exhibits a strong Persian influence.
Itmad-ud-Daula is in the city of Agra, Often
describe as ?Jewel Box?. The Tomb of Mir Ghias Beg, Vazir (minister)
of Emperor Jahangir, was built between 1622 and 1628 from red sand
stone with marble decorations as Akbar?s tomb in Sikendra in Agra.
Itmad-ud-daula has important place in history as well as
architecture. This is actually the very first tomb in India that is
entirely made out of Marble. It is most important monument in Agra
after Taj Mahal and Agra fort.
Itmad-ud-Daulah is one of the most beautiful monuments situated at
the bank of river Yamuna, heaving cenotaphs of Mir Ghais and Asmat
Begum. Mirza Ghias Beg (later known as Itmad-ud-Daulah) was a very
poor and used to live in Persia; He wanted to abandon his daughter
because he has no money to feed her. Ghias Beg left Persia in search
of better prospect and that took him to the court of the great
emperor Akbar. After Akbar?s death His son Jahangir became the
mughal emperor, He made Ghias Beg his Wazir(minister).later Ghias
Beg was honoured with the title of Itmad-ud-Daulah(The pillar of the
state).Noor Jahan queen of Jahangir and daughter of Ghias bag
ordered to built the tomb after his father?s death in 1622.
